The body-color steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps and trim rings, and they are mounted with 225/75 Dayton Timberline HT radial whitewall tires. A matching spare wheel and hubcap are mounted under a body color cover in the right-front fender. The L5 Coupe-Express rode on a 116.5″ wheelbase and featured transverse leaf springs up front and a live rear axle with leaf springs out back. Stopping power is provided by hydraulic drums at all four corners. The brakes are said to be soft and require pumping while in use.
