The car’s construction incorporates a chrome-alloy tube frame finished in white, around which aluminum body panels are secured by dzus fasteners. During its 20-year refurbishment, the car’s body panels were stripped to bare metal before being repainted in blue number 82 livery replicating that worn by the car during 1950 Indianapolis 500 qualifying. A replacement panel was fabricated for the portion of the underbelly that wraps beneath the exhaust headers. The nose cone is said to have been modified during the course of the car’s racing career.
