SFM5S048 is finished in Wimbledon White with Guardsman Blue rocker-panel stripes, as were all 1965 GT350s. Early examples such as this car featured a fiberglass hood with a mesh grille over the scoop opening. A fiberglass front valance designed for the competition variant was installed by the first owner, and photos indicate that the optional blue Le Mans stripes were also added early in the car’s racing career. The left front fender reportedly was replaced circa 1973 after the third owner lost control of the car during a timed track event in Brainerd, Minnesota and came to rest in a ditch.
