Chassis 2371 is one of 188 cars built by Rolls-Royce between the spring of 1912 and October 1913 to celebrate the 1911 London-to-Edinburgh achievement. It was originally ordered with a torpedo touring body from coachbuilder Barker and Company. Factory build sheets specify that the car was to be built as an “exact duplicate” of chassis 2148, which was reportedly a direct copy of 1701. The car’s current body is a copy of the original Barker coachwork and was built by restorer Kenneth Neve in 1970 for use on chassis 1701. When chassis 1701 was later restored, the Neve-built body became available and was ultimately fitted to chassis 2371 by James Black during the 1990s restoration.
