Cream-painted wire-spoke wheels wear chrome hubcaps, and they are mounted with 5.25–5.50–17 Firestone bias-ply whitewall tires. A matching spare wheel is stowed in a body-color cover out back. The Model 40 features front and rear transverse leaf springs, and stopping power is provided by mechanical drums at all four corners.
